Tab Builder App Reviews

Crap

Takes forever to write your own tab and doesnt save.

Just what I need

Great app for quickly mapping out a song. I love that you can add text on each row and that you can create cord sets for quick entry. It would be nice to be able to add bar lines and be able to copy and paste bars.

Ok, if you want to write tabs with anything except a paper and pen, its gonna be difficult. But I think this app isnt bad at doing so. Pro: You can create tabs quickly and efficiently. It exports straight to email, iBooks, and to my Google Drive :) so my band members can see it, comment on it, and keep the band flow going. The non-saving thing went away (as far as I know). Con: Its default settings are confusing. But if you are a critical thinker, you can change these settings so you can work faster. It doesnt look as nice as it could. But it gets the job done Overall: This app is great if need a quick tab writer (after youve changed the settings to suit your style). Its a little cluttered, but the fact that it exports is a really great thing. Not as good as paper, but I will certainly use this in the future.

Awesome app

Only thing I can say is it would be better if it had an easier input and a playback feature but if you want just a straight up tab maker this is the app to get

Simple and easy

This is a simple little app. Good for jotting down ideas. Id give it another star if they added the ability to change tunings and number of strings. Worth the buck tho for sure.

Excellent App for guitar oriented songwriters

I cant believe this is so inexpensive. If you are a guitar oriented songwriter, this is the only way to go. Easy to use, absolutely functional, and as handy as can be. Versatile and complete with everything you need to do chords, tabs, lyrics, and labels for song parts. This will make your songwriting effortless as far as getting it down. Do yourself a favor and add this to your guitar playing and songwriting arsenal.

Needs some improvement

It could be improved to allow lyrics or notes to be added, and also to make the tab entry a little more fluid.

Pretty good

This app is great for just tab building but being a guitar player as i am, I need to be able to add text to the song. Otherwise its a great app thanks.

This app is good but has great potential!

I like the combination-lock-style solution to notating the tab and i think it would be much more intuitive if the "locks" placement matched the tab notation strings. In other words, rotate it counterclockwise 90 degrees. Another great addition would be a selection tool that allows for copy/paste functionality so that sections can easily be repeated. Also, something like a "bar tool" that allows for separation of measures. Maybe upon selecting the tool, the user can just tap their finger where they want the measure divider to appear. A "beat marker tool" (same idea as the bar tool) to give some semblance of rhythmic structure, or better yet, stems and possibly rest notes! Oh I see amazing possibilities that could make my iPad my new tab building device! Onward ho!

Great App. I can use this to teach my students tab reading.

Very good but...

It would be great if I could turn the iPad portrait and the app turn with it. Maybe you can and I just cant figure it out.

Needs help

Def has potential, but i spend good time inputting tabs and theyre not always recorded to memory- the next time I open up many of the tabs have disappeared. Very frustrating.

Almost

Would love to be able to copy and paste a few chord changes Also, its says that you can add lyrics. Cant figure out how to do that.

Dont Duplicate Anything!!!

Im a shredder so my solos normally have a lot of note in them. The problem is, I cant print anything because when I do, it screws up and part of the solo becomes one repeated fret over and over. The worst part is that it does the same thing to your solo you just wrote out!

GLITCH. DONT BUY!!!!!!

It still needs work.

Very useable!!!

I am happy with this app! It does so little, that I can actually write tabs down. Roll-a-dex style selection allows you to plunk in the fret number. Its slow going, but very effective. You can also write in custom chords. You can keep a chord library, say you are playing in open D tuning, but you want to play a chord; if you know how the chord is played in open D, just write it in! Youll have that chord at your disposal. As I said, very useable! Thanks Dev!!!! Someone got it right!!

Amazing

This app does what it has to do and its easy to use! But it crashes when you trie to rename files...

Great App!

The app works fairly well but many times doesnt save it and then crashes. It exports perfectly though.

Very limited

This app is heading in the right direction but very limited right now. I was not able to include lyrics, chord names, or a bar in the right places and this is just what I found in the first 5 minutes of messing with it. I believe the app should be free at its current design.

Good as-is, could use some polishing

This is helpful if you want to quickly write down a little riff or something youre working on. Making a large song is a bit tedious. I like the fact that it has air drop support so I can save the text files on my MacBook. I would recommend the developers take time to make it easier to use right out of the box.
